How can we support you more effectively?:

I am very happy with the program, Chris, and the people. I am honored to be in the program and it has been life improving (not just life changing).

The only thing I do not like is True Coach; I don't think it's a great app. In my opinion, it could be much, much better.

Is there something missing we could ultimately provide you with to improve your experience?:

I would not saying anything is "missing." I do have some suggested improvements.

I think the daily/weekly emails could be reformatted to be easier to read visually and better formatted overall. And I think it would be more effective to add motivational content as opposed to teaser content.

I think users would find it helpful to have a bank of motivational content to view when they feel unmotivated. I see other users ask about motivation frequently. Quick 1-3 minute motivational videos are effective and could be easily done by coaches. David Goggins is probably the most well known for those types of videos.

I would personally find it helpful to have content explaining Ben's (Muscle Intelligence's) view on muscle movement big picture. It is sprinkled in some of the embedded videos in True Coach, which is always very helpful to novice people like me. But it would be more effective to have a bit more comprehensive explanations as to how movement is viewed in general, so we know better how to approach a set up for upper body, lower body, arms, etc. I think a generalized overview of major muscle group movement would lay a solid groundwork for the specifics we see in the embedded instructional videos. If that exists, I have not seen it. I would envision this as part of the onboarding programming but would be banked somewhere to view as you progress.

I think the Zooms are a missed opportunity. It is a brilliant idea, I have appreciated some of the content, and I understand the importance of the community component and the interface with Ben and the coaches. What I think could be improved is the administration of it. Advertising the topic in advance would be helpful. If it's a topic I know I don't want to miss, I would be more motivated to rearrange work and family commitments on a given week. Following up the weekly Zoom with the major takeaways would be a more effective way to promote users watching the recording. Incorporating some of the users' challenges or even failures they are willing to share, as opposed to just focusing on wins, is what builds the community component. Hearing that other people have the same struggles as you is what makes the experience more real, and therefore the wins you hear about more meaningful. Also, Covid taught us that the generalized questions to the Zoom room rarely go well, take a lot of time, break up flow, and are not effective. Other groups ask questions in advance, post upcoming questions/topics in advance in the chat, use other methods to engage the room, or designate general questions at a designated time, usually towards the end.

Could you please elaborate?:

It’s going pretty good but here are a few areas that could use improvement: feedback on workouts is a bit sporadic - seems like I don’t get consistent feedback on Thursday and Friday workouts. We’ve had an issue uploading videos on telegram so that is part of the recent problem, but the issue pre-dates the recent telegram issues. He does great on Monday and Tuesday workouts. Also, looking ahead, it looks like the weekly time slots available are constrained to a few hours in the middle of the afternoons - like 2:00-3:00 pm mountain time. I am finding ways to make this work the next few weeks but It would be nice to have more time slots available. I’d encourage Mike to ask more questions and be more succinct in answers. At times, he can be long winded in responses and repetitive on some topics. Our weekly meetings are short and there is often more topics and Q&A that I would like to get through. I try to send topics in advance via text that id like to discuss on our calls and when we don’t get through everything he has done a pretty good job at following up afterward with a loom video. However, for a lot topics, a follow up misses on some potential back and forth dialogue.

In what areas do you feel your coach could do a better job of supporting you?:

See above. But also - diet. I keep making tweaks to my diet and he provides feedback and it’s very helpful, but it would be nice to get my diet modified and sent back to me (the discussion is great, but it would be nice to see something on paper).

What do you feel are areas for improvement for your coach?:

See above. Consistent feedback, more time slots, more efficient check ins. More inquisitive questions.

Could you please elaborate?:

On the positive side, Mike has great energy and is very positive. I appreciate the loom videos and workouts. However, in general, the jury is still out. I am a short and to the point kind of guy. I listen (the first time) and take action. Our check ins haven’t always been that efficient (long responses from Mike and it can be hard for me to jump in and respond). That said, I think Mike and I are getting more efficient in our check ins. I’m learning on my side too - that I can provide more info during the week to help him understand where I am with things and what’s going on, so I take accountability for that and am going to change how I provide info and seek answers. I’m going to try and maintain a more regular dialogue rather than compile questions for our meeting.
In any case, things are going pretty good. The jury is just still out on fit and overall results.

In what areas do you feel your coach could do a better job of supporting you?:

I’ve had an interview and one meeting with Coach Leah. I received my meal plan finally on Tuesday after asking for some form of nutrition guidance in our one phone conversation. It took 3 months to receive. Why? It’s put in a google document as she said there were some sort of computer issues over the weekend and that was the reason for the delay. Leah said she would provide 30 min quick workouts while at the cabin and trying to get something in. Never received. We were supposed to have a zoom call today and she cancelled last evening due to food poisoning (hope she is okay). Rescheduled for tomorrow. Leah actually thought I took a month off the program and that’s why there was lack of communication. I had a Mohs procedure and couldn’t workout for 2 weeks and did inform her of this. I tried to fill out the questionnaire the last time and it felt so negative that I sat on it and then reached out to talk with her. Again, “I” reached out. I said I felt like I was just doing a program and not receiving any coaching… As she is talking to me she says “so when you start the program on Monday” I’m like I’ve been on the program for six weeks now. She said oh, I thought you were traveling… I went to Venice Beach to visit my son and went to Gold’s Gym. Asked for a workout that I could do there but never received one. She said that she would talk with you about reimbursing for the month - and it was communicated that there would be an added month at the end of the program (just checking if she mentioned) After talking with her I felt better but still felt like there were a lot of excuses. Typing this has taken time as I have deleted and typed, deleted and typed as I’m frustrated. I know Leah is new and learning. I’m 10 months into the program and feel like I cannot properly do a (heavy) squat:(

What do you feel are areas for improvement for your coach?:

Follow through. Communication. I have an Oura Ring - looked at it one time when I asked her to. I also have a CGM. I even hate writing this down as I feel negative but while listening to Ben and he said if you are not doing well in this program it’s because you are not following the plan. I said in a text that I would like to learn all that she is learning and get excited with the program from the new ideas, etc. Teach me! I want to learn too. I want this excitement that’s going around! The 60 day challenge seemed like a blast for you guys. After 3 months how well does she know me? My knowledge of Leah is through Instagram. Since Coach Chris I have not done pics or measurements nor have been asked to do so. How does she know if I’m progressing? I hate to hit send but I filled this out on Monday and didn’t hit send and it reloaded so I lost all I inserted. I would like to sit on this a little bit too but then I won’t send. We have a ZOOM meeting tomorrow to go over some exercises and nutrition. Let’s see how that goes. Hitting send

How likely are you to recommend Muscle Intelligence Coaching to a friend or family member?: 2 (2/5)

What would we have to do to take this to a 5?:

You charge a lot, which immediately makes it more difficult to sell to others. Your trainers have excellent knowledge and experience and are very good - I really enjoy working with Gavin and would recommend him as a trainer without hesitation.

But your product is not polished. For the amount you charge (I pay US $2,000 a month and was asked to a year’s fees up front - which I have never heard of in an online trainer service) you should be delivering an extremely slick and integrated user experience.

Training, nutrition, photos, scheduling check-ins, feedback, and providing stats should all be in one app, not pdfs for diet and supplements, a clunky training app (often with broken links), a separate nutrition app, links for scheduling calls and receiving loom updates over WhatsApp, and then a Google sheet for tracking progress - and no connectivity between apps. You charge too much for that to be reasonable to expect from clients.

Trainers should also keep a record of what they have been told regarding what equipment is available and refer to it when planning changes to training programme, so they don’t schedule workouts that can’t be done, which wastes time and money; and they should make sure that the instructions for exercises are clear, are included in writing in the workout plan, and have accurate videos that show not just the general type of exercise but match any specifics of grip, form, etc. Clients should not need to Google how an exercise is done to understand what their trainer has set them.

Some of these issues would not arise with in-person training, eg, checking form and tempo, showing how exercises are done. But the trainer and the service should fill the gap, not the client, especially at your price point.

As a result of this, the service is poor value for money and I do not believe it offers enough to justify the spend. If these issues were fixed, I would raise this score to a 5.

Yes. Follow through with things like the labs as it is what was paid for—feeling like you aren't valued as a client doesn't make you want to succeed or trust the program. Lack of customer service.

How likely are you to recommend Muscle Intelligence Coaching to a friend or family member?: 1 (1/5)

What would we have to do to take this to a 5?:

I paid for labs and asked about them multiple times because I'm interested in that type of stuff. I never got the labs done in the three months, and when I paid 15 grand, which is about half the price of a new car or college tuition- I would have expected better customer service to address my concerns. I emailed and talked to Ben and even Gavin, and nothing happened. And to some degree, I already feel ripped off due to false advertising. I also thought I was signing up to train with Ben online, which would have been nice to know if I wasn't going to be training with him. Gavin is great, but it was never revealed who I was being placed with after I bought the Elite Package, which has fallen short for me, and I regret not picking the group package. The program also does not make sense, as you fill out a lot of information that does not even seem to be used, such as food choices. I thought we'd get more details on nutrition from what Wayman told me about him eating specific foods that would keep him up at night, like tuna. I feel like I can pay a trainer at Muv Fitness or another gym to work with me in person and do nutrition for way cheaper, and I would get a lot more out of it. The only nice thing about this is the videos explaining the exercises. But overall, I was disappointed and did not feel like I got my money's worth. I've had better experiences with online coaches and in person. The other thing is Gavin is in the UK, which makes it so difficult to make those weekly check-ins. I wish I had been notified about this because it complicates my schedule and can add to my stress. I am taking a grad course, working full time, and working out. I have no flexibility to be up at 4 am or 5 am when I work out; instead, I have to do my check-in. Again Gavin is great, but the program does not take into account many things, nor do they ask beforehand if maybe it is ok to work with someone with that much of a time difference. I did not bother asking about perhaps a different trainer more in sync with my time zone, but as I could not get anyone to do the labs for me, I decided it would be pointless to email or try talking to someone. I am not satisfied with what I thought I was paying for and almost thought about contesting it as I felt I was led to what I thought this program was supposed to be like. Again paying 15 grand for no labs and not training with Ben as it says on the Elite package is a bit ridiculous. I know everyone on the team knows their stuff. My issue is mainly customer service, lack of communication, and false advertising.
